The good thing is, you don't have to stock your house with a
playroom full of plastic toys to enjoy grandbaby bliss (you made
that mistake with your own children... you know they like the box
better anyway!). Here are a few of our suggestions for great
grandparent activities. Have a great one of your own? Please let
us know so we can spread the joy!Jackson Pollack Jr.
Some smaller children are aggravated by crayon drawing since they
have to apply a certain amount of pressure and staying on the
white page is certainly not as fun as decorating your walls. Our
suggestion? After you've covered your table with newspaper for
protection, get a large sheet of black construction paper and
non-toxic colored chalk. For half the effort, children will be
amazed by their own colorful arcs, streaks and early signs of
creative genius.
Tupperware Party
Yes, your grandchild probably has a full electronic pint-sized
kitchen at their own house. But do their parents have the time (or
patience) to sit on the floor with a couple of Tupperware
containers and a spoon? You can make beautiful music together by
experimenting with different sounds on different sizes. Try
counting out a beat and see if you can't get inspire your own
little Ringo.
Outdoor Time
More than ever, our children are cooped up in the house or at
daycare facilities. Get your grandchild out of the house. Whether
your walking with the stroller or taking an older child flower
picking or fishing, the benefits of fresh air (and tired out
children) will be most appreciated by all!
